Audio-Technica unveils its new premium turntable, the AT-LP8X

Audio-Technica has launched the AT-LP8X, a new turntable designed for audiophiles. It offers multiple high-end features, including a direct drive motor for precise listening. While it’s not meant for DJing, the unit comes with a J-shaped aluminum tonearm that lifts automatically and stops the motor once the record finishes, protecting the needle. The motor reduces wow and flutter for smoother playback.

The launch also includes a new headshell, the AT-LT10, which connects to the black AT-VM95E cartridge. To minimize vibrations and interference, the turntable sits on a sturdy MDF plinth with adjustable feet, a rubber-damped die-cast aluminum platter, and a 2.5 mm rubber mat. Together, these elements reduce unwanted noise and vibration, ensuring a superior listening experience.

With a sleek black matte finish and simple, subtle controls, the design draws inspiration from the ‘60s and ‘70s. It features a detachable RCA cable and phono-level output to connect to any amp. Priced at £859, the AT-LP8X is now available on the Audio-Technica website.
