Sina Bathaie began his musical journey in Iran, learning the Santur from his father, Master Javad Bathaie, at the age of seven. He also studied Persian classical music on the Oud, developing a deep understanding of traditional Iranian music. Sina's passion for blending different musical styles led him to incorporate a variety of instruments, including the Baglama, Santur, Oud, Handpan, and Kamancheh, into his electronic compositions. This approach has allowed him to craft a soothing, organic sound that is both contemporary and steeped in traditional Eastern influences.
After moving to Toronto, Canada, Sina expanded his musical expertise by studying Composition and Orchestration for Films at Berklee College of Music. He has composed scores for several films, including "The Horse Latitudes," "Un royaume déménage," "Ameno," and "Mr Settled Immigrant," showcasing his versatility as a composer. His second album, "Ray of Hope," released on Windcatcher Records in 2017, was nominated for Best World Beat Album of the Year at the Independent Music Awards. His single "Summerdaze" was also nominated for Best Song in Dance or Electronica at the same awards in 2019.
Sina Bathaie has performed at various international festivals and events, including Burning Man and Luminato, and has achieved significant success with his music, accumulating over 55 million streams on digital platforms. His work reflects a deep commitment to bridging cultural gaps through music, creating pieces that resonate with a global audience while remaining rooted in his Iranian heritage.
