Sharam Tayebi, better known simply as Sharam, was born on August 12, 1970, in Tehran, Iran. At the age of 14, he emigrated to Washington D.C., where he immersed himself in the underground dance music scene. Together with Ali "Dubfire" Shirazinia, he formed the iconic duo Deep Dish, which became renowned for their eclectic and innovative sound, blending elements of house, techno, and other electronic genres.
Deep Dish achieved significant success, including a Grammy Award in 2002 for their remix of Dido's "Thank You." They released influential albums like "Junk Science" and mixed compilations such as "Global Underground: Toronto" and "Global Underground: Dubai." Their unique style and ability to craft compelling remixes for artists like Madonna, Janet Jackson, and The Rolling Stones cemented their status in the electronic music world.
In addition to his work with Deep Dish, Sharam has had a prolific solo career. His debut solo album, "Get Wild" (2009), showcased his ability to blend various musical influences into a cohesive and engaging sound. Sharam's solo releases, including tracks like "PATT (Party All The Time)" and albums such as "Retroactive" (2016) and "Collecti" (2017), highlight his versatility and commitment to pushing the boundaries of electronic music.
Sharam is also the founder of Yoshitoshi Recordings, a label that has been instrumental in promoting innovative electronic music. His solo performances and DJ sets are known for their deep, hypnotic grooves and intricate rhythms, earning him a loyal following and critical acclaim worldwide.
