Sevdaliza was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1987 and moved to the Netherlands at a young age. At 16, she left home on a basketball scholarship and played for the Dutch national team. Despite her promising career in sports, Sevdaliza's passion for music led her to teach herself how to sing and use music production software, such as Ableton, when she was 24 years old.
Her debut EP, "The Suspended Kid," released in January 2015, showcased her innovative approach to music, blending haunting vocals with experimental beats. This was followed by her second EP, "Children of Silk," in November 2015, which featured darker undertones and a more conceptual approach. Both releases were critically acclaimed, establishing her as a unique voice in the music industry.
In 2017, Sevdaliza released her debut full-length album, "ISON," which included 16 tracks and featured a hyperrealistic sculpture of herself on the cover. The album was praised for its depth and emotional resonance, further cementing her status as a visionary artist. She continued to explore her artistic boundaries with her second album, "Shabrang," released in 2020, which delved deeper into themes of identity and self-discovery.
Sevdaliza's music often explores complex themes such as gender, identity, and power, and her striking visual aesthetic complements her sound. Her work has been featured in various "best of" lists and has garnered a dedicated following worldwide. She also co-directed and starred in the short film "The Formula," showcasing her talents beyond music.
